Michael Smith Resigns As Truman Women's Basketball Coach

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – Michael Smith has resigned as head coach of the Truman State University Women's Basketball program. Smith was 68-68 at Truman after guiding the 2012-13 Bulldogs to a 20-8 overall record.

Smith has been named the head coach at Northwest Missouri State University, where he received his master's degree in 1998.

“I want to thank Michael for his dedication and hard work he has put into our women's basketball program the past five years,” said Director of Athletics Jerry Wollmering.  “The reason for his success is simple.  He can recruit outstanding student-athletes and coach the game of basketball.  His leadership has laid a great foundation for the next head coach.  I wish him and his family all the best.  They will truly be missed in the Kirksville community.”

A search will begin to fill the vacancy.
