First Pitch:
The Bulldogs step outside of conference on Thursday when they host nationally-ranked Washburn (Kan.) University for a single nine-inning game then travel for a big divisional series with William Jewell (Mo.) this weekend in Liberty, Missouri.

Truman is 13-4 this season and 6-2 in conference after earning a split with McKendree (Ill.) University last weekend at home. The Bearcats won the first two games of the series by scores of 11-8 and 3-1 however Truman turned the tide with wins on Sunday 7-3 and 10-6.

T.J. Wood, Brendan Trimble and Wyatt Fones all hit .500 for the four-game series with Jarod Hahn providing the power. Hahn hit three home runs, giving his 10 for his Bulldog career, during the series and drove in seven runs in the process. Paul Trenhaile crept closer to the all-time Truman hit record with a 5-for-16 (.313) performance and now sits just 13 shy of the record held by Devon Myers (197).

Washburn won their first 14 games but have since lost five of their next eight games to sit at 18-5 overall and ranked 26th in the Collegiate Baseball News poll.

William Jewell has won five straight and eight of their last nine entering a mid-week doubleheader against Lincoln (Mo.) University on Wednesday. The Cardinals are tied with Quincy (Ill.) with 7-1 records within the GLVC as they enter divisional play this weekend.

GLVC Tournament Format:
The conference tournament is scheduled for May 7-11 in Westfield, Indiana and will feature eight teams from around the GLVC. To qualify for the conference tournament, a team needs to finish in the top three of their respective division or have one of the two remaining best winning percentages in conference play.

Pole Positions:
For the first time in program history, the Bulldogs have been either ranked or receiving votes in four national Division II Baseball polls. Truman was 29th in the D2BaseballNews.com poll on March 24 and were just on the outside of the top 30 in the NCBWA, Collegiate Baseball Newspaper and Perfectgame.org surveys.

In regional polls that are also conducted, the Bulldogs are the top team in the Midwest region according to D2BaseballNews while third behind Grand Valley (Mich.) State and Ashland in the NCBWA Midwest Region.

At the end of the year, the only poll that matters is the NCAA Regional Ranking poll that will come out in mid-April. The top six teams in the Midwest region at the end of the season will get an invitation to the Division II National Tournament.
