Men's Box Score | Women's Box Score

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – The Truman Tennis teams saw their regular season conclude on Wednesday with a pair of 8-0 losses to Northwest Missouri State University. The Bulldog men will play Nebraska-Kearney in the first round of the MIAA Tennis Tournament Friday in Springfield while the women's season comes to an end.

The dual was originally scheduled for Kirksville back in March but due to weather was pushed back and shifted to the St. Joseph Tennis Center.

The Bulldog men fell behind 3-0 after the doubles matches but both Jake Ohlhausen and Griffin Smith put up fierce battles with the Northwest top two singles players.

Ohlhausen won the first set 6-3 but lost by a break 6-4 in set two and was forced into a third set tie-break by Sergio De Vilchez. The Bearcat player won the third set by a narrow 7-6 (10-3) score to prevail in the match.

Smith fought back after dropping his first set to Rafael Bugiga 7-5 to win set two 6-2. Again the third set tie break finished 7-6 with Bugiga winning 10-8 to grab the point.

Three other singles matches were decided by straight-sets and one was left unfinished.

The Bearcat women swept through doubles by winning 8-3, 8-4 and 8-2 and won five singles matches with the sixth being unfinished.

Seniors Maggie Schutte and Lauren Higgins ended their four-year Truman playing careers. Higgins led the team with nine singles wins as a senior and was 4-2 at number five while posting a career record of 32-26. Schutte finished her four seasons with a 28-33 mark and went 5-8 at number one singles after moving up from number four last year.

The men ended the regular season with a 4-7 record and 1-5 conference mark and will play Nebraska-Kearney at 9:00 a.m. on Friday at the Cooper Tennis Center in Springfield, Mo. The Lopers defeated the Bulldogs 6-3 in their dual on April 5th.

The women finish with a record of 5-9 and a 2-9 in their final season of the MIAA. The Bulldogs will switch to the Great Lakes Valley Conference next year.
