RECAP: Lewis Snaps Truman's Streak; Ends Bulldogs Season At GLVC Tournament

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – The Bulldogs five-game winning streak was snapped and season ended by the Lewis Flyers 71-61 in the quarterfinals of the Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament on Thursday afternoon.
 
The game featured seven ties and 10 lead changes with each team going on multiple runs. Lewis went on an early 7-0 run to go up 17-11 but watched as Truman reeled them in with nine straight to go back on top 20-17.
 
A three-point play by Conference Player of the Year Jessica Kelliher gave the Flyers a 26-23 lead at the half.
 
Truman scored four straight out of the locker room but then Tierney Lockett took over. Lockett knocked down a three-pointer and proceeded to score all 15 of her points in the second half.
 
The Bulldogs went on an 11-1 run capped by a three-pointer by Rachel Steinhoff to take a 40-38 however Lockett ended the third with a triple to give the Flyers 43-42 leading heading into the final quarter.
 
The Flyers kept Truman at arm's length most of the fourth only allowing Truman to get as close as three with 6:35 to go. Lewis was able to put the game away at the free throw line late making 6-of-8 at the stripe in the final minute.
 
The league's freshman of the year, Katie Jaseckas, led Truman with 16 points and eight rebounds. Rachel Edmunsdon added 11. The Bulldogs turned the ball over 20 times while Lewis had 12 turnovers.
 
Kelliher was held to only 6-of-15 from the field but did her damage at the line going 9-of-11 for a game-high 21 points.
 
The Bulldog season ends at 15-11.
