Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC)

STUDENT ATHLETE ADVISORY COMMITTEE (SAAC)

  • Encourage unity, common purpose, and camaraderie between teams and among all athletes within the athletics department, the Truman State University community, and the Kirksville Community,
  • Promote and support athletics at the institutional, conference, and national levels,
  • To actively encourage more involvement of the student-athletes in campus and community projects,
  • Evaluate the Athletics Program and make recommendations to the Administration for the improvement of the student-athlete's academic, athletic, and social experiences,
  • To be the voice for all student-athletes at Truman State University.

All Student athletes are welcome to attend.

Only currently registered student-athletes (currently listed on a varsity sport team's roster) at Truman State University.

There is no maximum number of athletes per team who can attend meetings and be members of SAAC, but each team is allowed two votes per team.

We meet every other Wednesday at 7pm in Health Science room 1206 (room across from the Athletic Trainers).

In the fall semester, we focus on fundraising for SAAC and encouraging student athletes to get involved with other teams by attending their sporting events. Our main responsibilities in the spring are to plan Basics with Bulldogs and Dogspy's. Basics with Bulldogs is an event where Truman student athletes host a sports camp for kids in the Kirksville community. Dogspy's is our end of the year student athlete award ceremony where we recognize highlights from every team's season. Throughout the year, we also hear from a variety of guest speakers that are relevant to being a student athlete at Truman.
