Madison Peterson Named Assistant Athletics Director For Compliance & Operations

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – Madison Peterson has been hired as Truman State University's Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance and Operations. Peterson comes to Truman from the University of North Dakota, where she served the past year as Compliance Coordinator.
 
"I am very excited for this opportunity at Truman State University," said Peterson. "The institution and athletic department is a great fit for me and I can't wait to get started working with the student-athletes, coaches and staff."
 
Peterson will handle all aspects of Compliance at Truman, including education, support, monitor and enforce all NCAA rules and regulations. She will work with the Great Lakes Valley Conference to ensure eligibility of student-athletes while also assisting with game day operations. 
 
"We welcome Madison and her husband Zach to the Truman community," said Director of Athletics Jerry Wollmering. "Madison's experience in NCAA compliance plus her background of being a student-athlete will make her a valuable asset in leading our compliance program." 
 
At North Dakota, Peterson was the liaison for all student-athlete scholarship information, tracked team scholarship equivalency and collaborated with the Financial Aid Office, was responsible for all initial-eligibility with the NCAA Eligibility Center, reviewed recruiting information, presented rules education materials for student-athletes, coaches, staff and campus departments and provided NCAA rules interpretations.
 
Peterson (nee Frain) was a decorated student-athlete for the University of South Dakota. She was a three-year letterwinner and was twice named to the All-Summit League team as a pitcher for the Coyote Softball team. She finished her career ranked third on the school's all-time wins list and was ranked in starts, complete games, innings pitched and strikeouts. She was also a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and Co-Chair of the Sport Management Alliance.
 
Peterson got her start in compliance and athletics administration at her alma mater. She was the graduate assistant for Compliance at USD and was responsible for tracking countable athletic related activities for all sports. She interned at both the University of South Dakota Foundation and for the Omaha Storm Chasers Triple-A Baseball team. 
 
She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology and Sport Science at South Dakota with a major in Sports Management and minor in Coaching. Peterson followed that up by earning her Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies. 
 
Peterson is native of Creston, Iowa.
