Box Score (HTML)

ROLLA, Mo. – The Truman Women's Basketball team cleared the first hurdle on their two-game road trip with a 74-65 victory over Missouri S&T on Thursday night. The next leg of the trip will see Truman square off against unbeaten and #1 Drury University on Saturday afternoon.

Four of the five starters were in double figures with sophomore Katie Jaseckas scoring a season-high 19 points to lead the way. Brooke Bailey knocked down four three-pointers for 17 points, Sloane Totta added 15 with eight assists and Makenzie Bray scored 10 with eight rebounds.

Truman's long range shooting was on the mark starting the game with four triples out of the first seven made shots. The Bulldogs (18-3; 9-2 GLVC) led by 11 early but lost the momentum and their rhythm. S&T (7-10; 3-7 GLVC) countered with a 15-6 run over a five minute span and eventually took the lead midway through the second quarter at 33-30.

Bailey righted the ship with a trey and the Bulldogs finished the half strong on an 11-2 run to lead 41-35. Bailey would hit two more big threes to thwart S&T runs in the third quarter. Her first came with Truman up by three at 42-39 and second came on a fast break with again Truman up by only one possession.

S&T remained pesky and would not go away. Alex Kerr made her third straight basket to trim the lead down to two early in the fourth but Totta buried a three to stop the Miners and vault the Bulldogs on another 11-2 run.

The Miners put one last push in the final five minutes and got as close as four on two occasions before Jaseckas scored five of her 19 points in the final two minutes of play.

Truman shot 43% from the field with nine threes and was 15-of-21 from the foul line. They won the glass 41-32.

Drury is 20-0 after forcing 34 turnovers and throttling Quincy 95-52 at home on Thursday. The Bulldogs will be searching for their first win against the Lady Panthers when they tip off Saturday at 1 p.m.
