Truman Women's basketball is back in action against preseason top 10 Notre Dame (Ind.) out of the ACC on Monday. The Bulldogs fell to Creighton in their first game of the season, and face a perennial power in the Fighting Irish. The Irish finished the 2021-22 season with a 24-10 record and made it to the Sweet Sixteen in the Division I Women's Basketball Tournament.

The Bulldogs lost 97-34 to Creighton, with Hannah Belanger leading Truman in points with eight.

Truman Men's basketball team starts their season against the Iowa Hawkeyes from the Big Ten. The Hawkeyes are defending Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament champions and are coming off a 25-9 season. Iowa will be without consensus first-team All-American Keegan Murray, who was the no. 4 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. The Hawkeyes also lost Jordan Bohannon, who broke current Truman head coach Jeff Horner's school records of career 3-point field goals and career assists.

The Bulldogs have another tough challenge against Purdue, another Big Ten powerhouse. The Boilermakers went 29-8 in 2021-22 and made it to the Sweet Sixteen in the Division I Men's Basketball Tournament. Purdue lost another top draft pick, Jaden Ivey, who went No. 5 overall to the Detroit Pistons.

The Bulldogs have a healthy mix of returning production and new faces, with 10 players having prior playing time at Truman and seven newcomers. Elijah Hazekamp is Truman's top returning scorer, averaging 12.8 points per game in 2021-22. Hazekamp was also the Bulldogs best rebounder, grabbing 5.8 boards per game. Senior Hunter Strait averaged 8.2 points per game and a team-high 4.8 assists per game. 

Truman looks to have another successful season after going 20-10 and a trip to the Division II Men's Basketball Tournament in 2021-22.

Bulldogs swim has meets on back-to-back days against Quincy University and McKendree University on Friday and Saturday.

The Truman Men are 0-3 on the season, losing to Saint Ambrose (Iowa) 178-111 in their last meet. 

The Women's squad are 2-1, with wins against William Jewell College (Mo.), Saint Ambrose (Iowa), and a third-place finish in the Maverick Invite. 

Bulldogs cross country competes in the GLVC Championships on the campus of McKendree University on Nov. 5.

The Women's team finished second of 10 teams in their last contest, with freshman Breanna Mathis placing eighth. Kate Yates was not far behind, finishing 10th, with Addie Mathis and Cora Stimpson placing 12th and 13th.

The Men's best result from the 2022 regular season was a third-place finish in the Larry Young Invitational out of teams. Andrew Henton was Truman's top finisher, placing 11th in a 155-man field.

Following a high-scoring 59-32 win against Quincy University last week, the Bulldogs play their final home game of the season against 5-4 McKendree University.

Truman put up 500 yards of total offense against Quincy, with 381 coming on the ground. Denim Cook, Shamar Griffith, and Collin Sutton were a three-headed monster rushing. Cook ran for 154 yards and four touchdowns, Griffith tallied 177 yards and a score, and Sutton totaled 43 yards and a touchdown.

Quarterback Nolan Hair went 8-11 for 115 yards and touchdown, with Zach Zerwig catching the pass.

Three Bulldogs recorded interceptions against the Hawks. Ryan Olivas, Ben Thomas, and Jake Closser each had a pick. Kendall Hutchison also forced a fumbled. Hutchison had a team-high in total tackles with seven.

Truman volleyball closes out their 2022 season against Southern Baptist University in Bolivar, Mo. on Saturday.

The Bulldogs go into their final match with a 3-19 record, and look to add a win against the 13-14 Bearcats.

Freshman Jessica Proszenyak leads Truman in kills with 178, followed by Hanna Berry with 161, and Annabelle Crowder with 128.

Emma Baierl has 470 assists, and Lexi Arnel leads in digs with 222.
