KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The Truman Football team cruised to a 36-14 homecoming victory over Missouri S&T on Saturday for their fourth win in-a-row.
Shamar Griffith ran for 82 yards and
Grant Ross booted three field goals in the win.
The Bulldogs sent the tone early when
Mason Huskey blocked a punt on the Miners opening possession and on third and seven,
Nolan Hair found
Tate Crane in the endzone for six.
Ross would covert on a 40-yard field goal on Truman's next possession and later in the quarter, Colin Sutton connected with
Tanner Lain for a three yard touchdown pass for a 17-0 lead.
Griffith extended the lead to 23-0 on a four-yard TD run early in the second quarter.
The Miners got on the board following a 18-yard pass from Staton King to Ryan Langford with 4:07 to play in the half.
The backbreaker came at the end of the half when on fourth down and 13 seconds left to play, Hair hit
Matt Hall over the middle for a 37-yard touchdown pass to cap off a 12-play, 79-yard drive.
The second half saw Ross belt a pair of field goals from 30 and 35 yards away that sandwiched a 65-yard touchdown run by S&T's Cameren Smtih.
Hair finished 14-of-24 for 144 yards with Hall making three grabs for 62 yards.
Ryan Olivas and an interceptions,
Tanner Lain blocked a second Miner punt and
Ben Thomas led the defensive unit with 12 tackles.
Truman moves to 4-1 on the season and 1-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Bulldogs will host Southwest Baptist at 6 p.m. next Saturday night to wrap-up the three-game home stand.
