Bulldog Football Steamrolls Through Wayne State 41-7 For Fourth Straight

DETROIT, Mich. – Nolan Hair completed all but three passes, Mason Huskey rushed for 115 yards and two scores and the Bulldog defense held the Wayne State Warriors to only 143 yards of offense in a dominating 41-7 road victory to improve to 4-0 on the season.

Jake Closser recovered a fumble on the opening kickoff to set the Bulldogs up at the Warrior 36 yardline. It took six plays but Hair found Huskey for a 14-yard touchdown reception to make it a quick 7-0 Truman State.

The Warriors went three and out and the punt did not travel any yardage as the Bulldogs took control of the football at the Wayne State 12 on their second possession. Hair ran it in from three yards out and the visitors had a 14-0 lead just eight minutes into the contest.

Grant Ross would connect on a pair of first half field goals that sandwiched a Huskey three-yard TD scamper and Truman State was in control 27-0 at the half. The Bulldogs led 222 to 49 in the first half on yardage.

Wayne State mustered their only scoring possession of the game to start the third quarter. The Warriors drove 75 yards on nine plays and scored on a one-yard touchdown run by Kendall Williams with 7:51 to play in the third quarter.

It took the Bulldogs just four plays to answer back. Huskey skirted 63-yards on Truman's next possession.

Tim Johnson Jr. capped the scoring with a one-yard run midway through the fourth quarter.

Hair finished 22-of-25 for 181 yards. He used nine different receivers with Tate Crane catching a team-high six passes for 51 yards. Huskey ran the ball 14 times for 115 yards and two scores. The Bulldogs controlled the clock for over 38 minutes of action.

Isaiah Estes led the defense with seven tackles and the unit held the Warriors to only seven first downs, 35 rushing yards and 108 yards through the air on the game.

Truman State will open up Great Lakes Valley Conference action next Saturday on the road at McKendree. The Bearcats were idle this weekend and are 0-3 on the season. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Lebanon, Illinois.
