KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - The Drury Lady Panthers outlasted the Truman Women's Basketball team down the stretch and won 92-82 in a high scoring affair in Pershing Arena on Saturday.
Gracie Neff notched her first double-double with 13 points and 10 assists, Molly Joyce scored a career-high 24 points and Ellie Weltha had a double-double with 22 points, 10 rebounds and became only the third Bulldog ever to pull down 1,000 career rebounds.
Both teams came out firing on all cylinders. Drury made 13-of-16 while Truman made 10-of-16 with the Lady Panthers grabbing the 30-22 lead.
The Bulldogs started the second quarter on an 11-2 spurt and grabbed the lead back at 33-32, however they finished the half on a 1-of-11 string and Drury led 45-41 at the break.
Drury extended the lead out to 17 points in the third quarter but the Bulldogs would fight back in the fourth.
Neff's three-pointer with seven minutes showing sparked an 11-3 run that closed the margin down to 81-76.
The Bulldogs had several possessions to pull closer but Caitlynn Daniels buried a triple with 1:21 left that was biggest shot of the day. Maddie Niemeier would follow with a hoop but the Lady Panthers converted on their free throws to pull away for the win.
Daniels and Beth Matas Martin combine for 54 of the Lady Panthers 92 points. Daniels finished with 26 and Matas Martin scoring 28.
Truman will head out for two road games next weekend at Rockhurst and at William Jewell.
