KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – Two weeks, two consecutive career-best tallies for Truman State's
Denim Cook who powered a 48-17 Bulldog win over Missouri S&T Saturday night.
Cook finished the game with 182 rushing yards on 21 attempts and two scores one week after tallying 157 yards and one score last week at Upper Iowa University. Truman State finished with 258 ground yards on 40 attempts.
Dylan Hair recorded a career-best passing game with 267 through the air with 12 completions on 15 attempts and four scores.
Jackson Overton hauled in four passes, three of which were for scores, to record 106 yards on the contest. The four receiving touchdowns were the most by a Bulldog receiver since Geoff Jensen against Missouri Western on Nov. 16, 2002.
Truman State's 559 total yards offense was the first time the Purple and White eclipsed the 500-yard mark since Oct. 29, 2022, against Quincy (Ill.) University.
The Bulldogs were off to the races on their first possession of the evening marching 78 yards on nine plays consuming four minutes off the clock capped by Hair's first touchdown pass, a 15-yard strike to
Christopher Kerr. Missouri S&T was unable to stop the Truman State attack in the first quarter allowing the 'Dogs to pull out to a 21-0 lead behind Kerr's touchdown and two of Overton's three receptions for scores. The final passing touchdown of the night, a 65-yard reception for Overton, put the Miners behind 28-0 just five minutes into the second quarter.
After starting 0-3 on the season the Bulldogs have evened their mark at 3-3 overall and 2-1 in Great Lakes Valley Conference action. Missouri S&T falls to 2-4 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
Next up for the Bulldogs will be a 1 p.m. contest at QU Stadium against the 3-2 overall/3-2 GLVC Quincy Hawks who fell to UIndy 47-10 Oct. 12.
