CEDARVILLE, OHIO –
Molly Joyce dropped 34 on the Ursuline (Ohio) Arrows to power Truman State to 2-0 on the season.
The sophomore guard went 10-16 from the field, including 6-10 from behind the 3-point arc, to set new single game highs in each category. Joyce scored 24, with four treys, in an 88-74 Truman State loss to Southwest Baptist (Mo.) in February of this year.
Truman State stormed out of the gates to a 21-13 lead after the first frame they would stretch to 38-25 at half. Two quick Arrow buckets to open the third quarter got them within nine, which would narrow to an eight-point margin with eight minutes to play in the quarter, before Bulldogs once again pulled away to a double-digit lead they maintained the rest of the way.
The Purple and White were aided by 12 points and six boards, which led the team off the glass, by sophomore guard
Bryar Duwe. Senior center
Maddie Niemeier tallied 12 of her own after scoring 22 against Cedarville (Ohio) to open the campaign on Friday, Nov. 8.
Following GLVC/G-MAC Challenge play Truman State's record stands at 2-0 while Ursuline falls to 0-2. The 'Dogs head to the Land of 10,000 Lakes with a pair against Concordia-St. Paul and Winona State next weekend in the GLVC/NSIC Challenge.
