Bulldogs Split Road Weekend with Win Over William Jewell, Loss at Rockhurst

Kansas City Mo. – The Truman State Women's Soccer team wrapped up its weekend road swing with a split, earning a strong 3-1 victory at William Jewell on Saturday before falling 3-0 to Rockhurst on Sunday. The Bulldogs' attack was in top form in Liberty, finding the net three times and outshooting the Cardinals by a wide margin, before running into a disciplined Rockhurst side to close the trip.

Truman State 3, William Jewell 1

Truman came out with forward intent and grabbed the lead midway through the first half. After building steady pressure and earning several corners, Ashley Klaus broke the deadlock in the 21st minute, finishing a sustained Truman sequence to make it 1-0. The Bulldogs dominated possession and held William Jewell without a first-half shot while forcing multiple saves from goalkeeper Hailey Davin.

Jewell pulled level early in the second half on a penalty kick conversion from Riley Frasure-Smith in the 49th minute, but Truman responded immediately. Just two minutes later, Avery Bohnenstiehl scored off a play in the box to restore the Bulldog advantage. Truman continued to control play, and Madison Blomenkamp added the insurance goal in the 71st minute, finishing off a second-half surge that sealed a 3-1 win.

Truman outshot the Cardinals 15-2 overall and placed 11 of those on frame. Goalkeeper Siman Loethen was largely untested, while the Bulldog back line limited Jewell's chances throughout.

Rockhurst 3, Truman State 0

The Bulldogs carried their momentum into Sunday but were undone by a clinical performance from Rockhurst forward Anna Lantz, who scored all three goals for the Hawks. Lantz put Rockhurst on the board in the 30th minute with a header off a corner kick, then struck again early in the second half to make it 2-0.

Truman pressed to get back in the game, producing several strong spells of possession and 12 total shots, including a second-half effort from Mackenzie Wright that clipped the woodwork, but could not find the breakthrough. Lantz completed her hat trick in the 85th minute to cap a 3-0 Rockhurst victory.

Despite the loss, Truman's attack generated consistent pressure with six shots on goal and showed depth across the midfield and forward lines. Loethen finished with four saves in goal.
