ROLLA, Mo. – The Truman State women's basketball team secured a 69-62 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory Saturday afternoon at Bullman Multi-Purpose Building. The Bulldogs improved to 7-6 overall and 4-1 in GLVC play, while the Miners fell to 6-5 and 2-3 in conference action.
Missouri S&T opened the game strong, building an early 7-4 lead before Truman State fought back to take control late in the first quarter. The Bulldogs used their transition game effectively, outscoring the Miners on fast breaks to build a 15-11 advantage after one period.
The second quarter was a back-and-forth affair with multiple lead changes. Neither team could establish separation as the score remained tight throughout. Missouri S&T took a slim 30-29 halftime lead, setting up a competitive second half.
Truman State seized control in the third quarter, outscoring the Miners 21-12 in the decisive period. The Bulldogs connected on three three-pointers in the quarter, including a pair from Mallory Ott, to build momentum. Despite Missouri S&T's efforts to stay close, Truman took a commanding 50-42 lead into the final period.
The Miners made one last push in the fourth quarter, cutting the deficit to four points early in the frame. However, the Bulldogs responded with timely baskets and executed at the free-throw line down the stretch. Truman converted 10-of-12 free throws in the fourth quarter to seal the victory and maintain their strong conference record.
