Tritons Pull Away from Truman State 64-47 in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Truman State fell to Missouri-St. Louis 64-47 Thursday evening at Mark Twain Building, dropping the Bulldogs to 15-10 overall and 12-5 in conference play. The Tritons improved to 21-3 (17-1) with the victory in front of 132 fans.

Truman State opened the game with early momentum, taking a 4-2 lead at 7:18 in the first quarter when Emajin McCallop converted a layup. The Bulldogs held an 8-7 advantage at the 5:43 mark before Missouri-St. Louis responded to take a 16-15 lead after one quarter.

The second quarter saw UMSL build momentum with a 15-6 scoring advantage. Katelyn Odem scored two of Truman's six points in the period, with a fastbreak layup at 1:53. The Tritons took a 31-21 lead into halftime, with Mara Rieder leading all scorers with 16 first-half points.

Missouri-St. Louis extended its lead throughout the third quarter. Anna Costa Riera's three-pointer at 8:53 extended the margin to 34-21. Mallory Ott made consecutive free throws at 8:28 to keep Truman within 12 at 34-23, and her three-pointer at 7:22 cut the deficit to 36-26. McCallop added a layup at 6:16 to make it 38-28, but the Tritons answered each time.

The fourth quarter saw UMSL maintain control. Ramthun's layup at 8:49 pushed the lead to 52-38, and Rieder's jumper at 7:02 extended it to 56-38. The Tritons' largest advantage came at 62-41 with 4:37 remaining after Rieder's tip-in layup.

Rieder finished with a game-high 20 points on 9-22 shooting. Morgan Ramthun added 18 points on efficient 8-16 shooting, while Costa Riera contributed nine points and two assists. Jayden Kuper controlled the glass with a game-high 16 rebounds and added six assists.

McCallop led the Bulldogs with 16 points on 7-12 shooting, while Odem and Morgan Miller each scored nine points. Mallory Ott added eight points for Truman State.

Truman shot 35.8% from the field for the game (19-53) and 17.6% from three-point range (3-17). UMSL held a 50-29 rebounding advantage, while both teams combined for 16 turnovers. The Bulldogs recorded five steals in the contest.
