Bates finished her first season as a student assistant for head coach, Clint Fitzpatrick, in 2019. For the 2018-19 season, Bates' responsibilities included helping to put together the schedule and practices, coordinating travel as well as coaching the team during practices and tournaments. She also oversaw the winter conditioning program that the team put together.
