2011: A Don Hansen Football Gazette second team all-American…second team all-MIAA pick…was sixth in the nation in punting with an average of 42.9/punt…only sixth Truman punter since 1960 to average over 40 yards per punt and second all-time behind Bob Fletcher’s 1979 record of 43.2…had 13 punts over 50 yards including a 75-yard boot against SW Baptist on Nov. 12…had one kick, following a safety go for 80 yards against Central Missouri…had 14 punts land inside the opponents 20-yardline.
2010: Punted 64 times in 11 games with an average of 35.9 yards per punt … forced 22 fair catches and pinned 19 punts inside the opponents’ 20-yard line … had three punts of 50 yards or more, including a season-long of 52 at FHSU on Sept. 18 … kept the Tigers inside their 20-yard line four times in that game as well … only had two touchbacks … in seven punts at MWSU on Oct. 9, averaged a season-best 41.9 ypp.
2009: Averaged just shy of 39 yards per punt (38.8) in ten games, coming on to kick 62 times … recorded a season-long of 66 yards and pinned the opposition inside the 20-yard line 12 times … booted punts more than 50 yards on seven occasions and was blocked just once.
High School: Named all-state as a kicker and was a first-team all-Johnson County as both a kicker and a punter following senior season …was 19-of-23 in field goal attempts for his high school career, including two of 52 yards…averaged 40.23 yards per punt with a long of 71 in 155 opportunities…was a three-time all-conference and all-Johnson County kicker and punter…son of Jim and Cathy Phillips.
