Biography

Montoya started 24 career varsity games at Helias with his team going 19-4 during that span. He finished his high school career with over 300 tackles (5th most in school history) 23 for loss and five blocked kicks. Montoya was runner up for Missouri Class 5 defensive player of the year and was a first team all-state selection in both his senior and junior seasons. An accomplished wrestler, Montoya was a three-time district champion and two-time state champion entering his senior season. He had a record of 134-9 on the mat and in is senior season, entered districts with a 38-0 record a 76-match win streak and was the number one wrestler in Missouri at 190 pounds. Montoya earned a TruMerit, President’s Honorary and TruOpportunity scholarships from Truman State.
