Jon Coronado is an Athletic Trainer for the Truman State University Department of Athletics, where he contributes to the delivery of comprehensive sports medicine services for Bulldog student-athletes. In his role, Coronado assists with injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and emergency care while supporting the daily operations of Truman’s athletic training facilities.
Coronado brings a strong clinical background developed through extensive hands-on experience across multiple collegiate athletic settings. He has completed clinical rotations with Northwest Missouri State University, Culver-Stockton College, Quincy University, and Hannibal-LaGrange University, gaining experience working with football, soccer, basketball, and women’s lacrosse programs. Throughout these rotations, he worked under the supervision of certified athletic trainers to perform injury assessments, implement rehabilitation and therapeutic exercise programs, and provide on-field emergency care during practices and competitions.
His clinical responsibilities have included designing and executing injury prevention programs, administering therapeutic modalities and joint mobilizations, educating athletes on proper stretching and at-home care, and maintaining accurate medical documentation and compliance with OSHA and institutional standards. Coronado has also demonstrated strong collaboration skills within sports medicine teams, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and problem-solving efforts to enhance athlete care.
In addition to his clinical training, Coronado has served as an Athletic Training Advocate at Culver-Stockton College, where he helped introduce undergraduate students to the athletic training profession through demonstrations and educational outreach. His background also includes leadership and event management roles that emphasized safety oversight and risk mitigation.
Originally from Milan, Missouri, Coronado earned his Bachelor of Science in Applied Health Science from Northwest Missouri State University in 2021 and completed his Master of Athletic Training at Culver-Stockton College in 2023. He holds certifications in Basic Life Support, AED training, and Psychological First Aid, and brings a patient-centered, detail-oriented approach to student-athlete healthcare.
