Megan Wargo-Kearney

Megan Wargo-Kearney finished her eighth season on the Truman coaching staff as the program’s top assistant in 2016.

Through her eight seasons at Truman, Wargo-Kearney assisted head coach Ben Briney in leading the Bulldogs to a 183-88 (.675) record, including six NCAA tournament appearances. She has coached players to all-conference recognition a total of 33 times while coaching the program’s first four-time AVCA All-American and one CoSIDA Academic all-District selection.

Prior to joining the Bulldog coaching staff in the fall of 2009, Wargo-Kearney spent four seasons as the assistant coach for both the women’s and men’s volleyball programs at Lees-McRae (N.C.) College. A Div. II institution located in Banner Elk, N.C., LMC reached the NCAA women’s tournament three times with Wargo serving as the program’s assistant and won three straight Conference Carolinas tournament championships. The Bobcat women’s program compiled a 101-46 record during her four-year tenure.

She also spent time on the sidelines as an assistant varsity coach at Susquehannock High School in Glen Rock, Pa. and as the head coach for the R&B Select Volleyball club. Her SHS squad advanced to the state championship game in 2004, while her R&B Select clubs picked up both a No. 1 regional ranking and a spot in the top-50 nationally under her guidance.

Wargo-Kearney also has taken on a major role with Gold Medal Squared, a premier provider of volleyball camps and coaching clinics throughout the United States and Canada.

As a player, she was an all-conference outside hitter for Gettysburg (Pa.) College and holds the second-place spot for digs in the school’s record book (sixth in the conference’s) as well as the seventh-place rank in program kills. As a senior, she was named the conference’s Player of the Year after helping guide her team to three Centennial Conference titles and three NCAA Div. III national tournament appearances throughout her four-year career. A two-sport athlete, she was also a first-team all-conference catcher for the GC softball team.

Wargo-Kearney graduated from Gettysburg College in 2002 with a degree in Management, with a minor in Political Science and an International Affairs concentration.

She completed her Masters in Leadership at Truman and was married to assistant head football coach Thomas Kearney in May of 2011.
