Women's Basketball Recap: #8 West Texas A&M 63, Truman 49

CANYON, Texas - - Courtney Strait scored a game-high 22 points for the Truman women's basketball team, but 23 Bulldog turnovers led to 28 points for the host Lady Buffs, as No. 8 West Texas A&M held off the visiting Bulldogs by a 63-49 score in the opener of the Pak-a-Sak Thanksgiving Classic.
 
The Bulldogs (3-2) took a three-point lead with 10:40 to play in the first half, but a nearly seven minute scoring drought gave WT time to pull ahead, 25-15, with just more than four minutes to play in the opening half. WT's halftime lead would be 11, but Truman couldn't recover in the opening minutes of the second half and eventually fell by 14.
 
Strait connected on 7-of-14 from the floor, including four three pointers and a perfect 5-for-5 line from the stripe. Allie Norton added 15 points, and Rachel Steinhoff added three points and a team-high five assists. Michalina Tomczak grabbed seven rebounds, as Truman out-rebounded WT by a 34-29 margin.
 
The Bulldogs take on Cameron (Okla.) on Saturday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. on the WT campus.
