Match Breakdown:
  • A game played as evenly as the stats and final score showed, two of the Great Lakes Valley Conference's upper-echelon teams played 110 minutes of scoreless action on the Harrison Stadium turf on Sunday afternoon.
  • Each team put one shot on goal in the first half, with DU's coming first in the 17th minute before Truman tested the Panther keeper on a Megan Whitehead shot in the 28th minute.
  • In the 67th minute, Alexis Heffernan had a good look, but her shot was saved by the DU keeper. DU with a shot in the 75th minute. Heffernan then rattled the post in the 86th minute, and Truman keeper Katie Mattingly made one more save in the 89th minute to send the match to overtime.
  • Truman totaled two shots in the 20 minutes of extra time, while Drury added one, but neither keeper was forced to make a save.
  • DU out-shot Truman by a 9-8 count, including the slim 3-2 edge in shots on goal. The Bulldogs took six corner kicks to DU's five.
  • Heffernan and Stephanie Williams were each credited with two shots, while Emily Cline took four shots for the hosts.
  • Mattingly recorded her third straight shutout, stopping three shots on the day. Her goals-against average is down to 0.67 on the season with six total shutouts in 13 matches.

Extra Notes:
  • Sunday's draw of the season marks the second time in the past three seasons that head coach Mike Cannon's squad has recorded at least four draws (12-5-4 in 2013). The program record for single-season draws is five (2010).
  • Truman is now 7-2-3 all-time against Drury, including a 2-0-2 record since the Bulldogs joined the GLVC in 2013 (2-0 at home; 0-0-2 on road).
  • The Bulldogs are still in second place in the GLVC; however, with Missouri-St. Louis' 2-1 win at Rockhurst on Sunday, Truman's lead is a half-game on the Tritons (7-1-2). Truman is also now one game back of Bellarmine (a 1-0 winner at Lewis on Sunday, now 9-0-1 in GLVC) for first-place.

Up Next:
  • Truman will hit the road again next weekend for two matches at the eastern-most GLVC schools, beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday (Oct. 16) night at Southern Indiana. The Screaming Eagles are 4-6-2 overall (3-6-1 GLVC) after dropping two matches at Lewis and UW-Parkside this weekend.
