ST. LOUIS - - Senior Seth Jackson put out a 29-point performance in his hometown, and the Truman men's basketball team held off a second half rally by Maryville to pick up an 86-80 road victory on Thursday night.

With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 18-8 on the season, but, more importantly, pulled even with Drury at 10-8 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference West division with two regular season games to play.

The game was tight early on, with Truman and Maryville knotted at 20-all with 8:34 to play in the first half, before lay-ups from the Myers twins (Cory Myers first, Cole Myers last) book-ended a pair of Isaac Gardner three-pointers to spark Truman to a 30-22 lead.

That margin would reach 13 by the half and increase to 16 (56-40) with 15:46 to play before the Saints extended the game with a barrage of three-pointers and lay-ups. An Armon Provo three-pointer cut the Bulldog lead to just three at 65-62 with 8:23 left on the clock; however, that would be as close as the Saints would get the rest of the way as Truman slowly pushed its lead back into double-figures and settled for the six-point victory.

Jackson – the GLVC's scoring leader – notched his 16th 20-point scoring output on the season in the game with his 29-point effort. He added four rebounds, a block, and a steal in his 36 minutes of play. Meanwhile, fellow senior guard Reed Mells added 18 points, including a critical lay-up late to give Truman the momentum back again, while sophomore Cory Myers tacked on 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting.

The Bulldogs shot 55.4% from the floor for the game and hit eight three-pointers – setting a new single-season record for triples made (253). Truman uncharacteristically struggled from the foul line, hitting just 15-of-26 (including 10-of-21 in the second half), while also giving up 20 points on 14 turnovers.

Provo's 23 points led four Saints in double-figures.

Truman returns to Pershing Arena on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m., hosting Missouri-St. Louis (17-9, 9-7 GLVC West) on Senior Day. The Bulldogs will recognize their four seniors – Jackson, Mells, Gardner, and Patrick Burmester – prior to tip-off.
