EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana got a double-double from leading scorer Anna Hackert with 16 points and 10 rebounds and defeated the Truman Women's Basketball team 65-53 on Saturday afternoon.

Courtney Strait and Allie Norton led the Bulldogs with 16 and 11 points respectively but the Bulldogs end the four-game road trip with a 1-3 record. They will look to finish strong with three of the final five regular season games at home starting Thursday night against Saint Joseph's (Ind.)

Truman shot 33% from the floor and connected on 7-of-25 (28%) from long range while turning the ball over 18 times. The Screaming Eagles shot nearly 50% overall with 17 assists on their 25 made baskets.

With the Bulldogs up 11-10, Mary O'Keefe and Cayla Herbst sparked a 10-2 run to give the Screaming Eagles a 19-12 lead midway through the opening stanza. Truman cut it to three on a Sam Andrews' three-pointer but another 9-2 burst gave USI their first double-digit lead.

Hackert muscled in six points early in the second half to give USI an 11-point advantage before Truman tried to fight back. The Bulldogs scored eighth straight with McKenzie Russell capping off the run with four points to cut the deficit to 47-44 with 11:06 to play.

Allie Norton tired for the tie but her three-pointer rimmed out and Michalina Tomczak's putback also came up short. Truman had another chance to get closer when Autumn Miller missed on a three-pointer but the Bulldogs could not coral the rebound and Kaydie Grooms scored on a second chance to push the lead back to five with 10 minutes left to play.

The Screaming Eagles scored nine of the next 11 points to put the game out of reach.

Grooms finished with 14 points and Tanner Marcum was the third Screaming Eagle in double-figures with 10 points.
