KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - - The Truman women's soccer team ran into an aggressive Grand Valley State side on Sunday afternoon, as the nation's No. 1 team handed the Bulldogs a 4-0 defeat at the Bulldog Soccer Park.

The Lakers – who won both the 2013 and 2014 NCAA-II national championships – rebounded from a season-opening loss on Friday night by putting home three first-half goals and an insurance tally in the second half on a hot Sunday afternoon. Maddison Reynolds, Marti Corby, and Katie Bounds each scored in the opening 45, before Katie Klunder scored 10 minutes into the second half for the final tally.

The Bulldogs played 24 squad-members on Sunday, with senior Alexis Heffernan taking two of the team's six shots on the day. Truman's two keepers – Katie Mattingly and Nicole Sparks – split the game in net, with each making two saves.

Truman returns to action on Friday (Sept. 11) afternoon at 3:30 p.m. against Maryville to close out a three-game home-stand to open the 2015 season.
