Truman 3, Lake Erie 2 - The Breakdown
- This game was a return-to-form one for Brown as she turned in 15 kills to just two errors on 31 total attacks for a red-hot hitting percentage of .419.
- That marked just the second time this season that the junior registered double-digit kills and first time since Sept. 16 (eight matches).
- Both teams scored at least 20 points in each of the five sets so the term five-set thriller mentioned above might be an understatement.
- On the match, the Bulldgos hit .235 to just .175 by Lake Erie, but the Storm managed to hang around despite hitting so much worse.
- Adding on to the tightness of the match, there were a combined 26 ties and eight lead changes between the two teams.
- Truman was at its best when it mattered the most: The Bulldogs hit .256 when they were down 0-1, .432 when they were down 1-2 and a blistering .647 in the fifth and final set.
- The Storm hit over .200 in just one of the five sets and that came in the fifth when they hit .227.
- Bastian and Hughes each had double-doubles putting their total in that category at eight and eight, respectively.
Hillsdale 3, Truman 0 - The Breakdown
- Hillsdale hit .246 to just .134 by Truman, including .306 in the third set.
- In total, there were 10 ties and three lead changes and each set was decided by five points or less.
- The first set was tied 19-19 before the Chargers rattled off six of the final seven points to win the set.
- In the beginning of the second set, the Bulldogs could do no wrong as they cruised out to an 8-1 advantage and led 10-4.
- For the rest of that set though, Truman never scored more than two points in a row before Hillsdale was able to take the set and a 2-0 match lead.
- The Chargers controlled the action for much of the third set before the Bulldogs were able to battle all the way back and take a one-point lead, 20-19 and forced a Hillsdale timeout.
- After the breather though, the Chargers used a 6-2 run to seal the deal.
Next up, Truman will host Drury on Friday (7 p.m.) and Missouri S&T on Saturday (5 p.m.) for Homecoming Weekend 2016.
