KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – Two first half goals propelled the #13 Truman Women's Soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Missouri S&T to remain unbeaten on the season Sunday. Megan Whitehead and Hanna Burke had the goals while Katie Mattingly notched her six shutout of the year.

Whitehead got into the scoring column for the first time this year in the eighth minute. Casey Maloney served a ball into the 18-yard box and after bouncing off a few legs; Whitehead corralled it and slid it inside the net for the goal.

Just over 10 minutes later, off a corner by Whitehead, Allison Lockett tipped the ball over to Hanna Burke and she put it in the back of the net for her third of the season and a 2-0 lead.

Truman controlled the game from the outset and outshot the Miners 19-9 for the game. Mattingly though, had to make some key stops, especially in the second half to preserve the shutout. The Miners had a pair of shots blocked by Truman defenders with about 30 minutes left in the match.

The Bulldogs remained on top of the GLVC Women's Soccer standings with their perfect 6-0 league mark and 7-0-1 overall record. The Miners fall to 1-5 and 1-4 in the conference.

Truman will be on the road for two straight matches next weekend as they visit William Jewell on Friday and at Rockhurst on Sunday. The Hawks are right on Truman's heals with a 5-0-1 league record.
