KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - In the third match of a four-match homestand, the Truman volleyball team fell to Rockhurst in straight sets with scores of 25-20, 25-23 and 25-20.
With the win, the Hawks improved to 10-4 overall and 4-1 in the GLVC while the Bulldogs now sit at 3-11 on the season and 2-3 in conference action.

In the first set, the home team's final lead came nine points in at 5-4. After that, the competition saw eight more ties with the final one being 20-20 before Rockhurst rattled off five straight points to take the set and a 1-0 match lead. That was the visitors' best hitting set of the night at .333 with 20 kills and six errors on 42 total attacks. It was also the best offensive performance of the match for the hosts at .243 with 11 kills and only two errors on 37 swings.
For the second set, the Bulldogs led 9-7 early before both squads made big runs including 5-0 for the Hawks and 6-0 for Truman to go back up 15-12. After the Bulldogs captured their biggest lead of the set, 20-16, the away team used a 9-3 spurt to come out on top.
In the third set, Rockhurst controlled the momentum throughout and led by as many as 10 including 20-10 and 21-11. Truman did its best to make it competitive with a 9-3 run to cut the margin to four, 24-20, but the Hawks scored the next point to win the set and match three sets to none.
Next up, the Bulldogs host William Jewell on Saturday with first serve set for 1 p.m.
