RECAP: Edmundson's 19 Sparks Truman To Big Win Over Missouri S&T

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The Truman Bulldogs hit 13 three pointers and shot nearly 62% from distance in picking up a lopsided 89-56 victory over Missouri S&T on Saturday afternoon.
 
Rachel Edmundson connected on all five of her three-point attempts and led Truman in scoring with 19 points.  S&T did not have a player in double figures but was led by Janie Arand's nine points.
 
Truman evened their season record to 10-10 and 5-6 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference while Missouri S&T dropped to 8-11 and 3-8 in the league.
 
The Bulldogs will be back at home next weekend as they host GLVC East Division members Indianapolis on Thursday night and Saint Joseph's College on Saturday afternoon.
 
How It Happened:
  • Truman scored 12 of the first 14 points out of the gate and led by double-figures only four minutes into the contest.
  • Brooke Bailey made Truman's third three of the quarter at the 4:57 mark to put Truman up 17-6.
  • Sloane Totta made two more threes in the last two minutes of the quarter to put Truman up 25-8.
  • The Bulldogs shot 64% in the first quarter and were 5-of-7 from range.
  • Truman led by 19 at the break at 46-27.
  • S&T managed to get as close as 15 midway through the third quarter on Raetchel Gray's three-pointer.
  • Mackenzie Jerks scored with 1:11 left to play to give Truman their largest lead at 37 with an 89-52 score.
Key Stats/Game Notes:
  • Truman dominated the glass 44-25 with Jamie Gleeson leading the way with seven.
  • Four players had three assists each and Truman as a team had 17 assists on 29 made field goals.
  • Totta joined Edmunson in double-figures with 14 and Bailey followed with 10.
  • 12 of the 13 players for Truman that played scored.
  • S&T shot 32% from the field for the game and hit three of their 11 three-point attempts.
  • The Bulldogs 61.9% three-point percentage ranks fifth in single-game percentage.
  • The 33-point victory over the Miners was Truman's largest margin of victory in their short history of Great Lakes Valley Conference play. The previous benchmark was 29 against Illinois Springfield in 2014.
  • The last conference win of 33 points was in 2013 against Central Oklahoma as members of the MIAA.
