Box Score (HTML)

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The Truman Women's Basketball team improved to 2-1 on the season after a 67-31 throttling of Missouri Southern on Saturday afternoon. Truman held the Lions to 21% shooting and forced 23 turnovers in the most lopsided win over Missouri Southern since a 54-point victory in 1999.

Ashley Hartwig led Truman with 13 points on 5-of-13 shooting and Rachel Steinhoff added 11 off the bench. The Bulldogs scored the first six points and outscored the Lions 22-6 in the first quarter.

Missouri Southern (0-4) did not have a double-digit quarter until the third in which they managed 10 points but were trailing 54-23 at that point.

The Bulldogs knocked down seven three-pointers on the afternoon and were a perfect 10-of-10 at the foul line. Rachel Edmundson was the only Bulldog with more than one three-pointer and she connected on two of three from outside.

Truman also won the boards 40-34 with Jamie Gleeson pulling down a team high seven.

The Lions got 10 points from Chelsey Henry and 12 rebounds by Jenson Maydew but were a woeful 20% from the field with 3-of-13 (23%) from distance.

Truman will next be in action at the Washburn Thanksgiving Classic in Topeka, Kansas on Friday. The Bulldogs will open with Newman (Kan.) on Friday before taking on the hosts Washburn on Saturday.
