Box Score (HTML)

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - The Truman women's basketball team trailed visiting Saint Joseph's by just one, 52-51, with 6:50 to play before the Pumas ended the game on a 13-4 run to defeat the Bulldogs by 10, 65-55.

With the loss, Truman's two-game winning streak was snapped as it falls to 11-11 overall and 6-7 in the GLVC. On the other side, with its second-consecutive victory, Saint Joseph's improved to 10-13 on the season and 6-7 in league play. For the third time in as many games, the Bulldogs were led by Rachel Edmundson with 19 points on 7-of-14 shooting to go with six rebounds and two steals. Next up were a trio of scorers with eight points including Ashley Hartwig, Cassidy Clark and Jamie Gleeson. Hartwig paced the team on the glass with eight boards while Sloane Totta was on top for both assists and swipes with four apiece.

Truman was held to just 33.9 percent (20-for-59) shooting from the floor including only 16.7 percent (4-of-24) from behind the arc. That field goal percentage ties the Bulldogs' lowest of the year and that three-point percentage is tied for the second-worst. Meanwhile, the Pumas made half of their shots (21-for-42) and six of their nine looks from deep. In the team head-to-head, Saint Joseph's led in both points off turnovers (11-6) and bench points (27-10), but Truman held the advantage in second-chance points (8-6) and points in the paint (26-18).

Through the first two and a half quarters, the visitors led by as many as seven, 14-7, but there were nine ties and four lead changes. The final of the nine ties came at the 5:33 mark of the third quarter when it was 36-36 before Saint Joseph's retook the lead and never relinquished it. From that point until the end of the game, the Pumas outscored the Bulldogs 29-19 and the Purple and White were just 8-of-26 from the field, including just 2-for-10 from distance.

Next up, Truman will travel to Lewis on Thursday (5:30 p.m.) and Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday (1 p.m.).
