KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The UW-Parkside Rangers turned the tables on the Truman Bulldogs and rallied for wins in both ends of Sunday's doubleheader to take the weekend series 3-1.

The Rangers scored four times in the final two innings in game one to win 5-2 and got a two-run homer from Troy Bittenbender to cap off a five run comeback in game to and win 6-5.

Game 1 Recap:

UWP scored four times in their final two at bats to take the opener 5-2 over the Bulldogs. Truman sent eight hitters to the plate in the second inning and scored two runs.

The Bulldogs loaded the bases with no outs and after a strikeout to Wyatt Fones, Evan Kayser drilled a pitch to deep center field. Kyle Schultz raced back and made a tough catch but because the ball looked to fall in, the runners had to retreat and Truman settled for the long sac fly to go up 1-0.

Mason King followed with an RBI single but the Bulldogs left them loaded.

The Rangers cut the lead in half with an RBI double by Jake Kolasinski in the fourth.

The turning point came in the fifth. Dave Gambino started the inning with a single and Charlie Kreh followed with a hit to left. The ball got away from the fielder allowing both runners to move up a base.  Jason Priest lifted a fly to center for Schulz who fired a strike home to get Gambino at the plate for the double play. Kreh stayed put at second.

Next, Chris Iliopoulos shot a ball up the middle but Schulz again came up throwing and nailed Kreh at the plate for the third out of the inning.

In UWP's next at bat, a pair of walks led to trouble. Nick Janssen singled to center to tie the game at two. After a strikeout, Dan Davis went to the pen for Austin Tinsely. The first batter he faced, Troy Bittenbender laced a ball to left center that scored Kolasinski but the Bulldogs were able to get Janssen out at the plate to keep it a one-run game.

The Bulldogs wasted a lead off single in the sixth as Nick Agliolo was stranded at second base.

The Rangers pushed across two insurance runs in the top of the seventh. A wild throw on a sac bunt allowed the first runner to cross and a sac fly plated another.

Bryan Clark started for the Bulldogs and took the loss after going 5.2 innings. He fanned four and walked three. Nicholas Rana also pitched 5.2 for the Rangers and allowed 10 hits but got the win. Nate Stolte pitched the final 1.1 and recorded his first save.

Game 2 Recap:
A two-out, two-run homer by Troy Bittenbender in the seventh completed a five-run comeback for the Rangers as they took game two by a 6-5 score.

The Bulldogs batted around the order in the second inning and put a five-spot on the scoreboard all with two outs. Mason King had an RBI single, Josh Abegg scored on a wild pitch, Charlie Kreh drew a bases load hit by pitch and Jason Priest singled in two as Truman led 5-0.

Nick Janssen hit a triple and scored in the fourth for UWP but the Rangers finally got to starter Brad Molski in the sixth. The first three all reached and after a ground out, Bryan Wade executed a perfect safety squeeze to cut the lead to 5-3. Andrew Luscomb followed with an RBI single but reliever Matt Tometz was able to put the fire out and keep Truman on top 5-4.

Tometz got the first two quickly in the seventh but Max Widmar singled to keep things going. Bittenbender drove a ball over the right field fence, his first home run of the season, to give the Rangers the lead 6-5.

Widmar went back to work on the mound after coming in for starter Conner Cunningham in the fourth. Widmar retired 13 straight Bulldogs after issuing a walk in the first hitter he faced in the fourth. Nick Agliolo snapped the streak with a two-out single in the eighth but was stranded. Widmar set the Bulldogs down in order in the ninth for his first win of the season.
