RECAP: Bulldogs Fall Behind Early In Loss To Ohio Dominican

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican scored two first half goals and downed the Truman Women's Soccer team 2-0 in a non-conference regional tilt in Columbus, Ohio.
 
The Bulldogs came out strong and registered three shots on goal in the first 10 minutes of the match. Kelsey Murphy was denied at the 3:24 mark, Isabel Kurzban at 5:17 and Allison Lockett at 9:38, all by Marissa Wierbicki.
 
The Panthers got a corner kick a few minutes later and capitalized as Alli Pavik headed in the corner from Allie Atkinson for the first strike of the contest.
 
In the 22nd minute, again off a corner, Susan D'Isidoro had a pair of shots blocked by Bulldog defenders but Lauren Bates picked up the loose ball and got it into the net for the 2-0 lead.
 
Truman would not have another shot in the first half of the game.
 
Hanna Hickey put a shot on goal in the 55th minute and Megan Oostendorp's shot was wide in the 75th minute of play. Kurzban had the sixth and final shot in the waning minutes of the match.
 
Wierbicki and Kelsey Harris split the halves in net for the Panthers to each get a share of the shutout.
 
Truman will open defense of their regular season GLVC championship when they travel to Quincy University on Friday evening.
