RECAP: Truman Races Away Early For Fifth Straight Win

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – Freshman Katie Jaseckas notched her third double-double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds and junior Rachel Edmundson scored a season-high 16 points as the Truman Women's Basketball team won their fifth straight in downing Missouri S&T 77-50 on Thursday night.
 
Jaseckas scored eight of her 10 points in the first quarter as Truman (8-2; 3-0 GLVC) bolted out to a 23-10 lead. The game was put away on a 20-2 run that spanned over five minutes between the first and second quarters after S&T (5-6; 0-3 GLVC) had tied the game at eight on a triple from Jordan Kabetske.
 
Truman led by as many as 32 points and knocked down nine three-pointers while also winning the glass 51-33. Jaseckas and Remy Davenport added two blocks each and Truman swatted seven Lady Miner shots on the night, three off the school record.
 
Edmundson was three of four from beyond the arc and five of eight overall to score 16 points in 19 minutes of action.
 
The Bulldog bench scored 32 total points compared to the eight by the S&T bench.
 
Janie Arand paced the Lady Miners with 16 points.
 
Truman will host Lewis University on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. The Flyers are 10-4 on the season and 3-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference following an 82-59 cakewalk over Illinois Springfield on Thursday night.
