Football's Mitch Nichols Voted Academic All-America

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – Senior receiver Mitch Nichols was voted to the Google Cloud Academic All-America football second team by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Nichols was previously named a first team Academic All-District selection. He joins Missouri S&T's Deshawn Jones and Bo Brooks as members from the Great Lakes Valley Conference to earn Academic All-America honors.

Nichols was second on the team in receiving yards this season with 207 on 12 catches. He had the longest reception of the year going 75 yards for a touchdown in Truman's first win of the year at Valparaiso. Nichols is the first Truman Football player since Tameem Yehyawi to earn the award in 2003.

The senior is an Health Science major with a 4.0 grade-point average and hails from Hannibal, Missouri.

The CoSIDA Academic All-America program began in 1952 and since has honored thousands of deserving student-athletes across all divisions. To be eligible for the honor, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.30 GPA, be a sophomore or older in eligibility and a starter or key reserve on their respective team.

Truman has had 116 Academic All-Americans which is among the top 30 of all four-year and two-year schools and second among NCAA Division II schools.
