RECAP: Truman Falls From Unbeaten Ranks In Loss To Lindenwood

Box Score (HTML)

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Truman's six straight wins to start the season came to a screeching halt on Saturday night. The Bulldogs led for the first 19 seconds before the Lindenwood Lions stormed past and downed Truman 94-83.

Lindenwood (5-1) managed 43 points in their loss to Drury the night before but scored 49 in the first half against the Bulldogs. An 18-4 run by the Lions gave them a 20-point lead in the second quarter. Truman finished the half on a 9-2 run to shave seven off the lead and headed to the break down 49-36.

The Lions scored 13 points in the first four minutes and expanded their lead out to 24. They led 80-58 at the end of three.

The Bulldogs (6-1) tried to make a little noise in the fourth scoring 10 of the first 11 points. Truman got as close as 11 with Sloane Totta scoring 16 of her game high 18 points in the fourth quarter. That was the most points in a quarter by a Truman player since the quarter system began in 2014 and a new career high for the junior.

Totta was joined in double-figures by three other Bulldogs. Rachel Edmundson and Katie Jaseckas scored a dozen apiece and Brooke Bailey chipped in 10.

Kallie Bildner went 8-of-10 from the field, made all 10 of her free throws and pulled down 12 rebounds for top honors with 26 points. Charisse Williams sparked the offense for Lindenwood in the first half. Williams scored 15 of her 20 points in the first two quarters. The Lions made their first 21 free throw attempts and finished 32-of-38 at the line and outscored the Bulldogs from the stripe by 16 points. They also won the glass by 12 38-26.

Truman will open up play in the Great Lakes Valley Conference on Thursday night when they host Rockhurst University at 5:30 p.m.
