Box Score (HTML)

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – Four Truman players scored in double-figures and the Bulldog Women's Basketball team dominated the glass in picking up a huge home win over Bellarmine 75-67 on Saturday afternoon in Pershing Arena.

Sloane Totta led the way with 14 points and was joined by Rachel Edmundson's 12, Ashley Hartwig's 11 and Katie Jaseckas' double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds. Edmundson tallied all 12 of her points in the second half.

The Knights led by as many as 11 late in the first quarter but the Bulldogs hit three of their seven three-pointers, including two that sandwiched the quarter break to reel Bellarmine back in.

The lead was held by the Knights for most of the second and third quarter before Totta's fastbreak bucket with 2:07 to go in the third gave the Bulldogs the lead at 50-49.

Bellarmine snatched the lead back and held a 51-50 advantage heading into the fourth quarter. Edmundson buried an early three to retake the lead but Bellarmine scored seven straight to lead by five with 6:07 to play.

Edmundson got the stick back and later scored on a layup during a crucial stretch for the Bulldogs. Maddie Tharp followed with a jumper at the free throw line extended and Edmundson struck again from distance for a 9-0 run that put Truman up 64-40 with 3:25 to go.

Tharp answered again on the offensive end to keep Truman up by four with 2:41 left.

The Bulldogs were able to extend the lead by converting on free throws over the final two minutes. Truman went 9-of-10 at the line to pull away for the eight-point win.

Truman owned the glass. The Bulldogs nabbed 47 total rebounds to Bellarmine's 29 and had 21 offensive rebounds leading to 17 second chance points.

Beth Bowers led Bellarmine with 20 points but leading scorer and third in the conference Raven Merriweather was held in check with only five points. Merriweather averages 18 per night and torched the Bulldogs for 28 last season.

Truman will look to continue their three-game winning streak with a home date with William Jewell on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
