RECAP: Rockhurst Rallies In Fourth Quarter To Down Truman

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – Scoring was at a premium through the first three quarters between the Truman Women's Basketball team and Rockhurst but the Lady Hawks turned a nine-point fourth quarter deficit in to a 54-48 victory sending the Bulldogs to their sixth straight defeat.
 
The low scoring affair saw Truman up 9-4 at the end of the first, up 20-15 at half and 29-23 through three quarters. The Bulldogs (10-9; 5-7 GLVC) then took their largest lead of the game at nine with 8:47 to play at 32-23.
 
Brooke Bailey knocked down a three-pointer with 6:55 to play to put the Bulldogs back up eight. Rockhurst (9-11; 5-7 GLVC) missed on their ensuing possession but Truman failed in a shot that would have put them up 10.
 
Rachel Holden nabbed an offensive rebound for the Lady Hawks and fed Briathia Sebeck for a triple that started the momentum.
 
The game teetered between a one or two possession lead for Truman until Morgan Harwood knotted the score at 41 with 2:51 to go.
 
Truman retook the lead after a turnover when Bailey hit a shot at the 1:57 mark.
 
Sebeck raced down the court and hit a second three to give the Hawks their first lead of the game.
 
The Bulldogs then came up empty on four straight offensive possessions while Rockhurst built up a six-point lead.
 
Truman could not get it under four as the Lady Hawks went 6-for-7 at the foul line in the last 42 seconds.
 
Through three quarters, Rockhurst shot only 19% from the field but went 8-of-15 (53%) with three, three-pointers in the final 10 minutes. After entering the fourth with 23 points, Rockhurst hung 31 in crunch time.
 
Bailey led Truman for the second straight game with 14 points and Katie Jaseckas pulled down 12 rebounds. However, the Bulldogs finished 28% overall shooting for the game, 26% (6-of-23) from three and 8-of-21 (38%) from the foul line.
 
Jillian Myers paced Rockhurst with 16 points and went 7-of-8 at the line.
 
Truman heads to Liberty, Missouri on Thursday night to face William Jewell at 5:30 p.m.
