RECAP: 'Dogs Deflated In Home Opener By Michigan Tech 20-10

Box Score

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The Michigan Tech Huskies stymied the Truman offense, holding the home team to 257 yards on the night and defeated the Bulldogs 20-10 in the season opener on Thursday night.

Both teams exchanged field goals early on before Jordan Siegel picked off a pass and returned it 35 yards for a touchdown to put Truman up 10-3 with 7:32 to go in the first half.

The Huskies struck right back and used some trickery in the process. Ben Hartley took a backwards pass from Will Ark and found a wide open Jacob Wenzlick for a 67-yard bomb to tie things back up two plays later.

Tech grabbed the lead on their next possession turning an interception into points on a 20-yard field goal by Eric Zeboor.

Late in the third, Ark found Hartley out of the backfield on third and five to put the Huskies up by the eventual final 20-10.

Michigan Tech racked up 372 yards of total offense with running back James Henderson rushing the ball 31 times for 105 yards. Wenzlick caught seven passes for 172 yards.

Jaden Barr was 17-of-29 for 128 yards and ran the ball 11 times for 64 yards.

The Bulldogs will host Morningside (Iowa) next Saturday at 1 p.m.
