CHILLICOTHE, Mo. – The #23 Truman Women's Soccer team ran their shutout streak to three straight by dispatching former MIAA conference mate Northwest Missouri 2-0 in a game played at Chillicothe High School instead of the Northwest Missouri campus in Maryville.
The game was shifted on Wednesday after field conditions and projected weather deemed it necessary to find an alternative.
The shift in location or weather didn't damper the Bulldogs as
Chance Douglass and
Hanna Hickey both scored first half goals for Truman and keeper
Beth Hopwood was tested just once as she turned away the only Bearcat shot on goal for her third consecutive save.
Douglass scored her first of the season on a pass from
Chloe Hollander in the 34
th minute and Hickey's goal was assisted by Douglass only six minutes later.
Truman outshot Northwest 14 to four and improved to 24-0-2 against the former conference opponent dating back to when they played regularly in the MIAA between 1999 and 2012. This was their first meeting since the Bulldogs joined the GLVC in 2013.
The Bulldogs will put the streak back on the line Sunday when they travel to Fayette, Iowa to face Upper Iowa University. Match time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
