KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The Truman Women's Basketball team opened up conference season with a bang by downing rival Quincy 74-75 in Pershing Arena on Tuesday night. Hannah Belanger led all scorers with 17 points and Maddie Re had a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds.

It was the Bulldogs sixth straight win over the Hawks, their longest such stretch in the all-time series and gave Truman 12 wins in the last 17 matchups.

Truman (5-2; 1-0 GLVC) scored the first seven points of the game but hit a rut midway through the opening stanza. The Lady Hawks (2-5; 0-1 GLVC) would outscore Truman 15-7 the rest of the quarter as Truman missed nine shots inside the paint and Quincy would lead 15-14 after one.

The Bulldogs found their shooting touch in the second quarter going 50% from the field while the Hawks went 2-of-8 during a stretch as Truman grabbed their first 10-point lead at 30-20.

It took Re only 30 seconds into the third quarter to secure her third double-double of the season. She swiped QU's pass on the opening possession and raced in for an uncontested layup to give her 11 points and 10 boards in the first 20:30 of the game.

Quincy went 2-of-12 in the third as Truman outpaced the Hawks 18-10 in the quarter to lead by as many as 18 points to put the game out of reach.

All of Belanger's field goals came from outside as she knocked down five triples for her 17 points. Sloane Totta also scored 13 points and Truman once again dominated the glass 39-29.

Quincy got 13 points from Alexsandra Petrovic but was plagued with 21 turnovers in falling to 2-5.

Truman will be off for finals until December 18th when they travel to Sioux Falls, South Dakota for a non-conference tilt against the University of Sioux Falls.
