KIRKSVILLE, Mo.—The Truman Men's Basketball team continues to dominate on their home court, running their home record to 8-0 and setting a season high with 92 points in a 92-63 rout of William Jewell. This ties the highest scoring output for the Bulldogs since they scored 98 against WJC on February 14, 2019.
Brodric Thomas led the way with 20 points and seven rebounds while Hunter Strait led with seven assists; tying a career high. Thomas picked up two blocks in the win over Rockhurst on Thursday, giving him 100 for his career, and had one of the three Truman blocks today.
Six Bulldogs scored in double figures today: Thomas with 20, Cade McKnight with 19, Turner Scott with 14, Strait with 13, Alex McQuinn with 12 and Dylan Peeters with 10. The team shot 34-55 for the game (61.8%) and made 13 threes—a season high. Thomas and Scott tied for the lead with four each.
The Bulldogs took their first lead of the game with 17:41 to go in the first half at 5-4, and from there did not look back. WJC got within one at 13-12 but a 16-1 run by the Bulldogs pushed the lead out to 16. Strait started the run with a trey—followed by Scott, Thomas and Scott again; then a layup by McKnight and free throws from Scott finished the spurt. Truman led by double digits the rest of the way, and took a 45-28 lead into intermission.
In the second half the domination continued as the Bulldogs stretched their lead even further. With 4:51 left in the game, the Bulldogs were up 30 at 87-57 after a layup from McQuinn. The Bulldogs made 7-12 threes in the half, and shot 63% from the field in the half. Truman saw out the rest of the game easily for a 29 point win.
