INDIANAPOLIS- The Truman Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead to help secure a big win on the road as they defeated the University of Indianapolis 69-53 on Saturday.

After the Greyhounds (17-7; 10-6) scored the first bucket of the game, Truman (17-6; 13-3 GLVC) went on a 14-2 run to propel them to a 14-6 first-quarter lead. UINDY missed nine of ten field goal attempts in the quarter and got their only other points from the foul line.Â
The Bulldogs extended their lead further in the second quarter as a Maddie Re free throw and a Katie Jaseckas three-pointer got the lead to double digits. Truman then went on a 12-5 second-quarter run shooting 4-of-8 from the field and 3-of-5 from behind the ac as the Bulldogs headed into the locker room up 36-17.
Despite a strong third-quarter from the Greyhounds, they were still outscored by Truman 17-16 as the Bulldogs led by 18 heading into the final 10 minutes. The Greyhounds outscored the Bulldogs 18-16 in the fourth, but the margin was too wide.
Truman was led in scoring by Maddie Re who finished with 15 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field and 14 rebounds to complete the double-double. Hannah Belanger and Jaseckas both had 13 points. Katey Klucking finished with 11 points. Sloane Totta had seven points and added nine assists in the win.
Indianapolis was led in scoring by Laura Thomas who finished with 21 points on 7-of-17 shooting from the field and four steals. Paige Barrett finished with 11 points and eight rebounds.
The Bulldogs shot 42.6% from the field and 29.6% from three. The Greyhounds shot 27.3% from the field and did not hit a three the entire game.Â
Truman will be on the road Thursday evening for a showdown with the #1-ranked and undefeated Drury Panthers (25-0; 16-0 GLVC) at 5:45 p.m. The Bulldogs will return home on Saturday for Senior Day against Southwest Baptist University (12-12; 6-10 GLVC) at 1 p.m.
