FAYETTE, Iowa—The Truman Men's Basketball team traveled to Upper Iowa Saturday for their first game after Thanksgiving and the undefeated Peacocks limited Truman to a season low 40.9% shooting and downed the Bulldogs 103-77.
UIU came out hot in the first half, shooting over 53% in the half to Truman's 42% and from downtown Truman went 1-10 while UIU went 9-19. UIU led wire to wire as they jumped out to an early lead and by the halftime break the score was 57-31.
In the second half, the teams put up the same number of points (46) but the Bulldogs were in too big of a hole to climb out of.
Sam Lock scored his first career points in the game, and finished with 14. He went 5-9 from the field and 2-4 from beyond the arc and also grabbed six rebounds. Eric Northweather also put up a career high 11 points and went 3-3 from downtown. Keaton Mitchell also reached ten points for the third straight game and grabbed four rebounds for the second straight game. He also had his first career multi-block game with two, which led the team.
Cade McKnight led the team with 17 points and seven rebounds while Hunter Strait and Sam Nissen tied for the team lead with four assists.
The Bulldogs will return home Thursday as they open conference play against Missouri-St. Louis at 7:30 in Pershing Arena.
