INDIANAPOLIS - A hot shooting start from distance by the University of Indianapolis Greyhounds propelled them past the Truman Bulldogs 70-59 on Saturday. The Bulldogs got 20 points from Hannah Belanger and 15 from Ellie Weltha.
The Greyhounds (8-11; 5-6 GLVC) rained in six three-pointers in the first quarter and at half had a 10-0 advantage from outside the arc to lead by 10 at 39-29. They would knock down their last three-pointer to start the second half before the Bulldogs started chipping away.
The Bulldogs (15-7; 11-3 GLVC) went on an 11-2 run with Weltha's three-pointer with 7:12 to go in the third pulling Truman to as close as they would get at 44-40. UINDY would score four straight and led 55-47 after three quarters.
Truman went ice cold in the fourth hitting just two of 13 shots and were 1-of-5 from outside. For the game, the Bulldogs were just 32% from the field and 4-of-17 from three.Â
The Greyhounds had four players in double-figures led by 17 from Lauren With. UINDY shot 46% for the game overall and finished 11-of-23 from three. They won the glass by a 36-34 advantage.
Truman sees their school-record eight-game road winning streak snapped and will head home for their next three starting on Thursday night against rival Quincy at 5:15 p.m.
