Bulldogs Draw Even In Battle With St. Cloud State

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - Luke Payne's goal 15 seconds into the second half helped the Truman Men's Soccer team earn a 1-1 draw with St. Cloud (Minn.) State University on Wednesday afternoon at Stokes Stadium. The Bulldogs return to action for their first road tilt on Sunday against Central Methodist (Mo.) University.

The Bulldogs allowed a rare own goal in the 22nd minute to give the Huskies (1-0-2) the early lead. Following a foul about 40 yards out, Zinedine Kroeten served a ball into the penalty area that was accidentally headed in by a Bulldog defender.

Payne avenged for the goal quickly to start the second as Jack Knust raced down the left side and got deep before crossing the ball over to Payne for the equalizer. It was his first of the season and fifth career goal.

Truman had a golden chance with 26 minutes showing when Sam Newton crossed the ball into a scoring area and Max Sengl's flick grazed off the left post.
