The Bulldogs will begin their dual season this week with a pair of road matches. The Bulldogs head to Marshall, Missouri on Tuesday to face Missouri Valley College. The Vikings edged Truman State last year in Kirksville by a 4-3 score while the Bulldogs won in April of 2022 5-2 in their last trip to Missouri Valley.

On Saturday, the team will face Simpson College on the road and are 3-0 all-time against the Storm. The Bulldogs dominated to a 7-2 match win in their meeting last season and won all seven matches contested on the court.

Coming off a weekend of two ties, the Bulldogs will play a rare, midweek, non Division II game to fill their schedule. Truman will host Graceland (Iowa) at 2 p.m. on Wednesday. The last time the Bulldogs faced a non-Division II school during the regular season was in 1998 against St. Mary’s College in Omaha, Nebraska.

The YellowJackets are 2-3-1 on the season.

On Sunday, the Bulldogs open up Great Lakes Valley Conference play by welcoming the newest member of the league to Stokes Stadium. Upper Iowa University is 1-3 on the season. The two teams played last year as a prelude to conference play with the Bulldogs winning 1-0. This will be the fourth all-time meeting and Truman has won all three prior matches.

Two 2-0 teams will be on display Saturday for Family Day at Stokes Stadium as the Bulldogs welcome the Saginaw Valley (Mich.) State Cardinals to Kirksville.

Mason Huskey rushed for a career-high 111 yards and two touchdowns and Nolan Hair converted with his feet two tough third downs in the game’s final drive to lift the Bulldogs to a 28-24 win over South Dakota Mines on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Saginaw won their rivalry game with neighbor Northwood (Mich.) on Saturday 31-8 and will begin a brutal four game stretch with their first road trip of the year to Truman State. The Cardinals next four opponents all played in the postseason last year with the Bulldogs, playing and winning the America’s Crossroads Bowl, GLVC Champion Indianapolis the following week, and national powerhouses Grand Valley State and Ferris State in consecutive weeks.

The two teams last met in 2018 in University Center, Michigan and the Cardinals scored two touchdowns in the final minutes to pull out a 21-20 win over the Bulldogs.
