Two 2-0 teams will be on display Saturday for Family Day at Stokes Stadium as the Bulldogs welcome the Saginaw Valley (Mich.) State Cardinals to Kirksville.
Mason Huskey rushed for a career-high 111 yards and two touchdowns and Nolan Hair converted with his feet two tough third downs in the game’s final drive to lift the Bulldogs to a 28-24 win over South Dakota Mines on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Saginaw won their rivalry game with neighbor Northwood (Mich.) on Saturday 31-8 and will begin a brutal four game stretch with their first road trip of the year to Truman State. The Cardinals next four opponents all played in the postseason last year with the Bulldogs, playing and winning the America’s Crossroads Bowl, GLVC Champion Indianapolis the following week, and national powerhouses Grand Valley State and Ferris State in consecutive weeks.
The two teams last met in 2018 in University Center, Michigan and the Cardinals scored two touchdowns in the final minutes to pull out a 21-20 win over the Bulldogs.
