KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - The Missouri S&T Miners scored the final six points in overtime to pick up their first Great Lakes Valley Conference victory over the Truman State Bulldogs 70-64.
Truman needed a furious rally as they trailed by as many as 12 in the second half and by 10 with 4:03 left to play. Lizzie Boehm and Claire Rake connected on triples to spark the comeback and Molly Joyce's layup up 30.6 seconds left knotted the score at 62.
The Miners held for the last possession but turned the ball over as the clocked ticked away.
Katelynne Roberts and Ellie Weltha exchanged baskets in the first half of overtime but that would be the last Truman points. Roberts put the Miners up on a hoop with 1:49 left. Missouri S&T would score the final points from the line where they had a distinct advantage of 21-6 in points from free throws.
Francesca Metz led S&T in scoring with 20 points and Roberts added 18.
The Bulldogs were led by 21 from Weltha and 19 from Joyce.
Truman will host Illinois Springfield and Quincy next weekend to close out the home portion of the regular season.
