BOLIVAR, Mo. - Truman State Women's basketball fell 88-74 to the Southwest Baptist Bearcats on Thursday night.
In the first quarter, SBU got out to a 10-3 lead with 7:48 left. The Bearcats went into the second quarter up 10 with a score of 28-18.
The Bulldogs outscored SBU 18-17 in the second quarter, and cut the lead to five at the 8:47 mark. Southwest Baptist took a 40-26 lead late in the quarter, but went into the break up 45-36.
The Bulldogs had a tough third quarter, as SBU went into the final period up 19.
Truman State scored five more points than the Bearcats in the fourth, but the Bulldogs ended up taking a 14-point loss.
Molly Joyce had a great game, scoring 24 points with three rebounds, an assist, and a steal. The 24 points tied a career-high that she had against Drury on 1/20.
Ellie Weltha scored 23 points on 8-14 shooting with four boards, four blocks, and three steals.
Claire Rake was third in scoring with nine points, all coming from 3-pointers. Rake had an additional four rebounds and an assist.
Bailey Kliewer had a team-high six rebounds along with five points.
Gracie Neff dished out four assists, which led the team.
Truman State will play their final game of the 2023-24 season against Drury on Saturday, March 2nd, at 1 p.m.
